An Island of Chaos

I’ll tell you a story, it’s certainly true
Of islands, caves and monkeys too
Read it real close, there isn’t much glory
It’s more than just words, an allegory

Stuck on an island without trees or sand
Surrounded by oceans, no water or land
Where corn doesn’t listen or try to hear;
And potatoes can’t see nor shed a tear;

There’s thumping like that of a beating drum
It’s heavy and deep, a constant thrum
Vibrations a plenty, deeps wells of disquiet
Caves full of sadness, dark and defiant

Monkeys that see, monkeys that do
Monkeys are everywhere, some with tattoos
They taunt and they laugh, they frolic and play
Making a mockery in every possible way

Amidst all the chaos, just look very closely
You’ll find a man sitting, looking quite lonely
Dressed in his jeans and navy blue cotton
All by his lonesome; unnoticed, forgotten
